My name is Peter Kavanagh and I have been an asthmatic for almost 40 years. I suffered as a child with this disease and later, as an adult, I had to watch my own daughter struggle to breathe. At about the same time, my symptoms returned and given that I was a naval officer serving in submarines, that was, to say the least, inconvenient.

My real motivation in learning everything I could about this horrible condition though was having to watch my daughter go through an acute attack, hooked up to an IV and breathing nebulizers every twenty minutes for over a week. This roughie toughie submariner balled his eyes out and vowed to do whatever it took to try and avoid that from ever happening again.
